WTO Workshops with Kenyan private sector and civil society

Serena Hotel, Kenyatta Ave. Processional Way, Nairobi

5 to 6 November 2015

The 10th Ministerial of the World Trade Organisation (WTO MC10) is scheduled to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 15 to 18 December 2015. It is the first time the Ministerial Conference will be held on the African continent. It will be held in the midst of a constantly evolving global trade and economic structure, and as the continent continues to strive to effectively integrate into and benefit from the global economy. This is in part through increased intra-continental integration – through the Tri-partite Free Trade Area (T-FTA) and the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) in Africa. The meeting aims to deliver some significant outcomes on the Doha Development Agenda. This is at a time of pertinent developments in other global regions, such as the recent conclusion of negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

Ahead of MC10, the Trade Law Centre (tralac) will host two workshops in Nairobi, which will bring together members of the Kenyan private sector and civil society, respectively, on 5 and 6 November. It is expected that these workshops will stimulate discussion on aspects that are pertinent to Kenya and other African countries, as negotiations continue in Geneva towards the Ministerial meeting in December. The areas to be discussed during the workshops will include:

The closing date for registration is 30 October 2015.

Registration is subject to the limited spaces available.
